Objectives - short term

  • To probe and collect opinions, experiences and standpoints of young people regarding religious and cultural tolerance, co-existence and co-operation with those who have different cultural backgrounds and religious beliefs.
  • To explore differing opinions about specific ethnic and religious conflicts through theoretical discussion and analysis.
  • To examine, and shed light on the problems of specific conflict situations, to analyse their context and aetiology, and, consequently, to consider possible lines of resolution.
  • To address issues of religious and cultural difference in Europe at present through discussion and debate, publication and, particularly, through the use of documentary film, and, on this basis, to raise the awareness of inter-ethnic and inter-religious social contexts and issues.
  • To contribute to the formation of adequate approaches and methods for intercultural communication and cooperation that would, crucially, be of practical use in everyday learning situations.

Objectives -  long term

  • To strengthen the transcultural contacts of young people, and to encourage and promote their self-initiative in the development of intercultural contacts and dialogue.
  • To support NGOs that operate in the cultural domain, with the aim of enlarging their influence in the promotion of a multiethnic culture programme at a European scale.
  • To develop and foster networks and contacts between NGOs concerned with issues of cultural and religious co-existence and co-operation in contemporary Europe.
  • To contribute to the creation of a new awareness based on the idea of transcultural connections, involving respect for cultural and religious differences – and most importantly on the basis of transcultural interactions, understandings and collaborations.
  • To contribute to the agenda of dialogue and collaboration in the context of the dynamics of an enlarged Europe.
