About the project

Project Petrovaradin Tribe is based on a video workshop that will deal with unusual phenomena in which participate young people from the states of EX-Yugoslavia and regions of South-East Europe.
Since the year 2000 in July more than 300.000 of young people gather at the Rock festival EXIT in Novi Sad in Serbia and Montenegro. This phenomenon is a fact that self-initially derives from a generation who has lived trough conflicts and has witnessed the fall of the old system and ethnical wars. Information which they received growing up (trough media, school history, ...) were overseen and don't correspond with the information they receive from their parents, friends, ...
Aim of the project is not filming the festival itself, but the exploration of the newly established bonds and energies of the young generation that doesn't want to live in the shadow of the past war, judgments and feelings of guilt. The main goal of the workshop is to produce a documentary and other video and press material for public demonstration.

Project objectives

To establish communication with film as a medium with young people from former Yugoslavia. This film project involves young filmmakers from Ljubljana and Novi Sad who's aim is to use the backdrop of well known rock festival in Serbia to explore the newly established bonds and energies of the younger generation in the region.
To strengthen cross-border contacts of young people and support their self initiative contacts.
To link non-governmental organizations, which are occupied with culture and exceed cultural and social isolations.
To support the trend of creating new awareness which is based on the idea of connecting, respecting differences and multiethnic collaborations.
To support NGO's (non governmental organizations) which operate in culture, with the interest to enlarge it's influence in creating a national culture program.
To strengthening the extension of the EU, including it's new members.
To show youngsters how to express their opinions, points of view, needs through the film as a modern medium.

Project output

A documentary movie (sixty minutes) based on Serbian music Festivala created by young filmmakers with expert guidance. Film (and all mentioned finished productions) will be subtitled in English and suitable for lectures on television, internet.
A debate during the festival.
An internet page of the project where the whole project will be presented.
'The Making Of': Short visual parts, created from the documentary and other filmed material.
Publication that will contain registrations of individual inquiries, opinions of the participants in the project and the conclusions of the debate which will be held throughout the festival.
Short presentational video, which will be at the end of the festival given at a symbolic price to young visitors.
Public presentation of the film in Belgrade (Serbia), Zagreb (Croatia) and Ljubljana (Slovenia).
