JUMP TO FORUM DISCUSSION ABOUT THE SUGGESTED THEME The phenomenon and a special side of intolerance in Slovenia is represented aslo trough churches on Slovenian hills that are all the time lightened by big reflector lights. At the same time Slovenia is regarded as one of the most 'light polluted' countries in Europe. Beside the waste of energy this is also a proof that in Slovenia a Chatolic church has a special status which is rarely questioned by common residents. Similar situation is with church bells and ‘sound polution’. In a case of open concerts and events sometimes even music of moderate volume can present a problem between the people, but the banging of church bells should not present a problem, because it is even ‘nationally confirmed’. Even the discussion about the topic can be for church very provocative … On the other side one of the arguments against building a mosque, that affected the ‘voters’ was build up on fear of the noise of the ‘mujezin’ singing/calling to prayer, that would disturb the ‘public peace’. How this kind of sound promotion of own religion can expose, we can clearly see in situation in Mostar where a person sitting quieltly in the evening by river Neretva is suddenly caught in the cross-fire of the mujezin singing and banging church bells.
